Historic accuracy of flag may prompt change in county seal (AL)

... The flag featured on Baldwin Countys seal is the Beauregard Battle Flag, a flag that has become identified with the Confederacy, but was never actually the true official flag of that nation.
Instead of using the Beauregard flag, it was suggested to the commissioners that the seal be changed to feature the first official flag of the Confederacy, a flag called the Stars and Bars which was designed in Marion and was definitely flown over the capitol in Montgomery.
It would be my recommendation to substitute the current battle flag for the first national flag of the Confederacy because the one that is there now never truly historically represented the Confederate State of America in an official capacity, Anderson said. It was also never recognized as a national flag. If you substitute the first national flag for the one that is there now, the explanation of our seal we have now will actually be correct ...
