Minnesota founder of Aryan Liberation Movement resentenced

ST. PAUL, Minn. A white supremacist from Austin has been resentenced on a federal gun crime.
Samuel James Johnson, who was involved with the National Socialist Movement and founded the Aryan Liberation Movement, pled guilty in June, 2012, to being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison under the Armed Career Criminal Act, five years longer than called for under usual sentencing guidelines.
Johnson appealed that sentence and the U.S. Supreme Court eventually ruled that the ACCA is too vague as to what makes a criminal eligible for a longer sentence than normal. On an eight to one vote, the Justices struck down that part of the law as unconstitutional and reversed lower court rulings that upheld Johnsons enhanced sentence.
The case was remanded back to U.S. District Court in Minnesota and, on Friday, Johnson was resentenced to 71 months in federal prison. That will be followed by three years of supervised release ...
