I can't understand why Trump is leading in the GOP poles? He is a cruel, over zealous, rich man. I have to laugh every time I hear him speak. He can't put a sentence together without gasping or stopping to remember what he was saying. All he can say is that he is great and rich with big plans(which he has no clue how to accomplish them). He might be right about being rich, but he also made money off bad deals and then filed for bankruptcy four times. We all know these things, but why can't the GOP make him accountable for all the short comings? I may not be smart, nor am I rich, but I am a happy Democrat who can't wait to see Humpty Trumpty fall and no one will bother to put him back together. Will the real GOP candidate. please, step forward?????

(6,002 posts)He realized that the republican party no longer has any accountability for any ideas, governing philosophy, or any of the foundations of an actual political party. It's become a party of assholes and it's only platform is trolling "liberals" and people who actually have policy ideas to make the government work. Trump has recognized this, and is exploiting it for all he's worth.

(14,912 posts)heard one person yet who wants to see Trump as President... I'd like to know where all of these supporters are coming from, too.
As an aside, in case you didn't know... to reply to an individual poster on your, or any, thread you click the little "reply to this post" link on the bottom of each reply. You'll get the hang of it eventually.

(14,449 posts)Not really something for us to worry about. We just need Hillary or Bernie to win our nomination and the presidency. A republican won't win in 2016. Electoral won't allow for it. We have to many ways to win. I am not saying a Repugs will never win again but it won't be 2016.

(6,666 posts)My cousin LOOOOOVES Trump. Sick stupid love. Total mancrush. I finally rolled my eyes and asked WHY.
Cuz laughed and said
1. Trump is the Jerry Springer show of politics and is fun to watch.
2. Cuz already knows Trump doesn't want to be prez. Just shake things up.
3. The rest are pure losers so Trump sucking up the light starves the beast.
4. Let the Dems have it. He thinks we are to blame so let us clean it up.
5. Even if Dems can't clean it up and make it worse hopefully it will get so bad citizen grab the pitchforks.
6. If it gets bad enough maybe the idiots who run the RNC will buy a clue.
We were at his church. I went to emotionally support him singing again, which he's not done for a long time. The other church people stood there smiling and nodding in agreement so I'm pretty sure it's not just him.
Like I said, one anecdotal case. Take it for what little it's worth.

(1,199 posts)He is cruel, over zealous and rich, this are things that the republicans worship. Add to the fact that he belittles everyone else and goes out of his way to insult any woman with the slightest bit of authority or power, and he is the prefect republican candidate.

2. he has a positive image - as a success
3. he is leading against a very divided field.
Here's the poll results
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_republican_presidential_nomination-3823.html
Trump - 29.8
Carson - 16
Bush - 8.3
Cruz - 7.0
Rufio - 5.5
Fiorina - 5.0
Walker - 4.8
Huckabee - 4.3
Kasich - 3.8
So if you look at it, there is Trump with 30% and NOT-Trump has 70%. The top 4 combined only have 61% of the total. If it was a 4 person race instead of a 144 person race (yes, it is gross) how would the other 39% be divided up? Maybe in the same proportion, but perhaps not. Those top 9 have 84% of the vote. My prediction is that the field will be down below 10 before the Iowa caucuses even happen.
Trump, unlike some of the others, has the ability to finance his own campaign. Others will rely on donors, and most donors are going to look for a viable candidate.
