I marathon watched the entire series this morning. What a powerful series.

(99,710 posts)The juxtapositioning of the Puerto Rican family moving into their new home which he made possible and him killing himself was powerful.
It shows how people with good motives get corrupted by politics.

(11,649 posts)moved to phoenix in '89. i knew someone who lived in yonkers. the area he lived in was starting to change back in the early 80s. aside from driving to his house i was not familiar with yonkers.

(99,710 posts)Introducing public housing into middle class neighborhoods always presents difficulties but the movie shows that just because you are from the 'projects' doesn't mean the 'projects' are in you.
They want what other people want; a clean and safe environment.
I liked the white woman who was originally hostile to the idea coming around. A heart was truly changed. It reminds me of the New Testament story that " there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."

(11,649 posts)friend's grandparents lived in the projects on madison st. on the lower east side. they were italian immigrants. her aunt, uncle and cousin lived in the projects a few blocks away.

(45,319 posts)political pieces. The amount of time spent on this cycle of events is rare in cinema or TV and these events deserve such a detailed telling.
I hope everyone on DU sees it, sadly I know many here are resistant to arts and literature much as Republicans are.
