Woman Yells ‘You Nasty!’ Then Attacks Naked Painted Lady in Times Square

A woman attacked a desnuda — a naked woman who covers her body in paint — in Times Square on Saturday, and it was all caught on video. Before yelling, “you nasty!” and calling the desnuda, Amanda Roman, a “nasty whore” in front of tourists, the woman attacked her while she was posing with a tourist. Both women were arrested after the altercation.

“Some girl from out of nowhere said, ‘You nasty! I don’t like the way you look,’ and then punched her in the face for no reason,” a bystander said. “She knocked her out of nowhere.” Donna Myer, the tourist who wanted to pose with the desnuda, says:

“I was talking to her. I asked how much is it? She said, ‘Whatever you can give.’ I didn’t have no money. I said, ‘Let me go to the bank.’ The girl turned around, who was walking by, and said: ‘You’re a nasty whore! You disgust me!’ Then she just came over and started beating the hell out of her!”
Police identified the attacker as Angela L. Portalatin. The incident is the latest in a series of problems involving the topless women. Last month, NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton took issue with the public nudity in Times Square, even though it is legal when used for a performance or exhibition. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also voiced his concerns about the practice of soliciting contributions, even suggesting doing away with the pedestrian plaza in Times Square. http://www.mediaite.com/online/woman-yells-you-nasty-then-attacks-naked-lady-in-times-square/

and they gave me the creeps. There's a lot of them.

But as a native New Yorker it makes me laugh - all the effort put into making Times Square this homogenized, sanitized, corporatized piece of unending tourist trap chain businesses with nothing authentic NYC about them and they still can't keep out the sleazy.

The last time I was passing through there we lost count around 25. My girlfriend also got between a verbally abusive Cookie Monster and a non-English speaking family who was being shaken down for $20. The tourists don't realize these are panhandlers expecting money. They need big multi-lingual signs warning that these individuals are not representatives of Disney or the Muppets or whoever and not to pay them.

The New Mayor of Barcelona Tells Us Her Plans for a Radical City

http://www.thenation.com/article/qq-ada-colau/

Ada Colau, the first woman mayor of Barcelona, has just marked her first two months in office. Previously an activist, she’s the founder of the Platform for
People Affected by Mortgages (PAH). In this interview, Colau talks about the challenges of leading one of Spain’s most celebrated cities during the current democratic revolution.

This interview has been translated from Spanish and edited and condensed.

EG: What have you done since taking office?

AC: When we arrived, we had an emergency plan ready—obvious things like guaranteeing food for children at risk. We also started a conversation with the banks and SAREB [the private entity created to assist in the cleanup of Spain’s financial sector] to recover homes.

EG: In Madrid, there are already actions being taken against Blackstone [the US investment company] because of its role in the housing crisis.

AC: Here, about 400 apartments have had their management privatized by vulture funds. During the housing bubble, the neoliberal mantra was that if there was a lot of economic activity, even through speculation on basic needs like housing, everyone wins. This has been shown to be false.

When New York City installed pedestrian plazas in Times Square six years ago, replacing traffic-choked streets with beach chairs and picnic tables, the move prompted civic controversy, late-night monologue jokes and, eventually, widespread praise as an influential innovation in urban design.

But as the city grapples with an influx of topless tip-seekers, the de Blasio administration has suggested an unexpected remedy: Remove the islands altogether.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Thursday that he would consider removing the plazas from the area in a bid to restore order to the crowded streets of the renowned Manhattan crossroads.

Before the body paint women showed up and immediately activated a whole bunch of people's hair trigger permissiveness chips, lest their "progressive" cred be challenged, nobody was defending this situation. They're just a bunch of vagrants harassing people people.

Yup. These are just street bums who go back to sleeping in their refrigerator boxes after a day in their nice warm costumes.

You people are a bunch of maroons. These are permitted "street performers." If you've ever been to Times Square, you've seen it all. The quaint little hot dog carts? Owned by a big company...stick around at closing time when they all parade back to the Mother Ship to re-load their nice street-corner vendor carts into the belly of the beast. This is BIG BUSINESS. Sure, a few of them might be grifters, but most of them are paid by much larger entertainment companies, just as the street-cart vendors are franchisees working for the man. Wake the fuck up.

The only costume I have seen there that didn't look like complete shit was Woody from Toy Story. The "furry" ones are positively grotesque. There is a Sponge Bob that is just a spray painted box and most of them smell.

It's the American way. Chop of heads and suck out brains in a movie, get a PG-13. Show a tittie and get an R.

We are one fucked up country.

Besides that, aren't you required to get a permit to be a street hawker in NYC? Maybe I'm just naive. Does anyone know where I can get my $5 Rolex repaired?

I would much rather see desnuda that a stinky smelly elmo.

NYC should be less concerned with so called nudity in Times square than those characters in full costume.
