(15,233 posts)I did not know that Republicans were so stirred up (yeah right), good thing the Democratic Party is not in a similar condition. As for me any vote that has a chance to win and is not a Republican, which makes me part of the problem as I pursue my fantasies.

(10,494 posts)Do you believe that campaign money in large amounts from Wall Street and other groups like the MIC, oil companies... is unimportant? Is Hillary, or any other politician who takes a lot of campaign money from big donors, immune from any quid pro quo for the money? These are fair, and very important questions to most of us.
How is it you assume it was Hillary I was talking about? Admittedly, she was on my mind when I wrote my comment, but I left her name out of it. You knew it was Hillary because she is chock full of Big Donor money.
Hillary has done a lot of great things in her career and is way better than ANY Republican, but I think that she will have to return some favors for all of that money. You obviously are either ok with her returning the favor for the money at our expense, or believe that she is not influenced by the campaign donations. Either option I am opposed to as I know there will be a Quid Pro Quo if she is elected.

(58,724 posts)It just seems like not everything needs to be Bernie v. Hillary.
Can't we just enjoy a cartoon poking fun of the Republican side together as Democrats?

(15,233 posts)Quid Pro Quo is solidly in the historical DNA of American Politics and to answer your question it is important whom the Plutocrats support. The entire Primary season is about leveraging and right now a message is being sent to the Plutocrats that the current distribution system is broken and needs major adjustment. The zero interest rate of the Federal Reserve cannot last, carbon based economies are likely to kill us, Government by obstruction is anarchy, and people come in different colors and belief systems everyone deserves respect. Notice too Democrats are not yet calling each other names and trading insults. No matter the outcome Sanders is very important to this election cycle ignore and isolate him at great peril.

(17,175 posts)... they both are channeling the deepest feelings of their bases, and are isolated from the monied interests. It will be interesting to see what happens in both parties if the controlling classes nominate candidates that don't correspond to the feelings of the masses. To my mind, never has the disjunction between the ruling class and the ruled been quite so evident in the US.
