I've trumped my way into a couple of jobs in my lifetime. . .

I "interview well" and I got some jobs that I wasn't really qualified for. I didn't do very well in them, and I didn't last very long there.. But I GOT them.

I'll bet a lot of us have trumped our way into jobs.

The first time, I lasted a couple months, before my boss and I came to the same idea at the same time, namely that I wasn't the guy for that job.

The second time, I kept my mouth shut and my ears open. I learned on the job, got past my probationary period, got promoted twice, worked there for 30 years and retired as the department head.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails.
