http://www.rawstory.com/2015/09/oklahoma-cop-breaks-mans-face-and-charges-him-with-assault-for-no-apparent-reason/An Oklahoma man suffered a broken nose and other injuries but was charged with assault when a police officer punched him during an arrest.
Chris Barger said he dropped off a friend at an apartment complex Sept. 7 in Purcell when a police officer approached and shined a flashlight into his car, reported KFOR-TV.
He begins to shine his light in my car window repeatedly, and after a while, I decided maybe I should get out of the vehicle and ask the officer what the problem is, Barger said.
Barger got out of the car with one hand in his pocket, and a witness said the officer charged him and began punching.

(65,616 posts)I know the fella probably thought he was doing the right thing. However, in 2015 America you don't want to have a single thing to do with cops.
And if you DO decide to take your life in your own hands, DON'T have your hands in your pockets. He is lucky the cop didn't yell GUN and shoot him 56 times while calling for back up.

(14,912 posts)and some of his friends, and my cousin's car matched the general description of the get-away car. We got pulled over and asked for our identifications and we were talking to one one officer about how tragic it was, as we had heard about it on the radio. All of a sudden, the officer jumped back, had a pistol pointed at ME, and was yelling "what's that in your pocket??!!??!!??" I looked down, with my hands in the air of course, to see the brown handle of my hair brush sticking out of my pocket. I said "it's just my hair brush, sir". He said "slowly, with two fingers, remove it!" I said "ok, just don't shoot me man, I know you guys are hunting a killer".
I pulled the brush out v e r y s l o w l y and showed it to him. He actually apologized to me and I accepted because I KNEW they were all high strung that day. If I'm not mistaken, it was the first female officer killed in the line of duty for Metro-Dade County. I think her first name was Cheryl, can't remember the last name right off hand. I'll have to Google it to be sure.
It *used* to be common practice when we got pulled over to step out of the car and stand at the door waiting for the officer to approach. After this, and a few more cops being shot, if you opened the door you were told over the PA system to remain in your car and place your hands out the window.

(16,286 posts)Racism is played out all day long with cops and minorities, of course.
But since we have such a severe police problem, where they believe they are god like and so on, it is increasingly less surprising when we see white victims.
Ground up, fire all of them and all their administrators.
Re train, re hire using all new standards etc.
Has to be done over time of course, have to have police.
Hey, want to cut down on people being shot? Enforce the 2nd amendment and remove every single gun to a well regulated militia.

(1,958 posts)I do know that on a traffic stop NEVER get out of your car unless told to do so by the cop. Sit there with your hands on the steering wheel and wait for the cop to ask questions and tell you what to do, such as getting out license and registration and proof of insurance.

(3,183 posts)to show they are unarmed. I personally would never get out of my vehicle but I can see the logic in those who would.

(3,183 posts)I would be much more on guard walking up to a car window where I have no clue what's sitting in the seat beside the driver than seeing him standing outside the car where I have full view. This cop is one of those unhinged people that never should have been hired in the first place. How do these batballs get through the hiring process?

(1,958 posts)Approaching a car in a traffic stop is a situation in which cops are cautious. That is why there are laws limiting window tint. Every cop I know want drivers and passengers to stay in the vehicle until told otherwise. That is SOP. (I have four relatives who are cops or retired LEO.)
Staying inside the vehicle also is more safe for the driver when on the side of a road or highway. Again, don't do anything until told to do so by the cop and keep your hands on the wheel.

This is a bad combination that could result in someone getting hurt bad.
