Puppy Found Beaten, Buried Alive in Georgia Gets 2nd Chance at Life

A puppy found badly beaten and buried alive in Augusta, Georgia, is now getting a second chance at life.

The four-month-old dog was originally found "trying to dig his way out of what appeared to be a little grave" by Augusta Animal Services last week, according to Dr. Scarlett Timmons, the veterinarian treating the pup at Westside Animal Hospital.

"He was nearly comatose when he first came in, and he wasn't responsive at all" Timmons told ABC News. "He had a pretty significant head injury, a lot of swelling in his head. He also had been bitten by ants and had a respiratory infection from all the dirt that got caught in his nasal passages."

The medium-sized mixed breed puppy has been fittingly named "Moxie," a word referring to the ability to face difficulty with spirit and courage, Timmons added.

So glad he was found and is being cared for. I would probably get a hide if I said what I wished for the monster who did this to him.

And whoever did that should be in jail for a long time.

Poor little angel! How can people be so horrible!

I hope Moxie finds a wonderful loving home and has a long happy life.

Fortunately other people don't and hopefully the dog can go on to have a high quality of life.

People that intentionally abuse animals to the point of killing them generally would not go through the effort of burying them.

It may have taken a bumper shot to the head.

The owner may have thought it was dead.

Still not the best of owners and uneducated and neglectful to let a dog run to where it CAN get hit by a car. Yes.

But a serial animal abuser would just throw the body in a trash can, dumpster or body of water.

An attempt at burial shows some degree of care. However small.

In any case I hope this little one finds a much better home now.

here is probably a high chance she/he will have special needs related to brain trauma now.

I HATE animals abusers with a hot passion but this has clues that give me pause -- the same ones you listed. Thanks, alphafemale.
