7. How about legalizing cannibalism? You want mass population control, now there's a tasty option.

People die naturally. If we stop replacing them we could make a huge non-anthropophagous difference. Ol' Frankie Photo-Op could issue an ex-cathedra supporting family planning tomorrow which would be a major help for a start. We could override the zygote-worshipping RWNJs and start incentivizing reproductive choice with free contraceptives available nationwide, free abortion providers in each county at least and yes up to (voluntary, but paid) sterilizations. We could stop the primitivist taboo against suicide and offer free, painless, at will euthanasia. We could stop giving tax breaks and start charging tax penalties for kids beyond the first.

That's population alone. Let's get serious about solar, wind, geothermal, LEED mandates, EVs, real public transit, carbon penalties etc and we'd make a nice dent.

Kudoos to your right to allow them a slow painful death

Honestly - as this planet warms up - Who do you trust to administer the dwindling food and water supply

And who do you think will end up administering that food and water supply

6. It's not just population growth

That's one symptom of the bigger picture, which is the success of humanity.

Plus it's not even climate change. What is our plan to fight climate change? Our plan is to change the climate.

Another off shoot of our success, is our want to, as you say, control what happens. Unfortunately we can't take every variable into account, so our attempts to control life will always come up short, because something will always go wrong, because life is too complex.

10. Serious answer

population will stabilize and start to go back down at most by mid century and the 1 child policy did a lot of damage to the Chinese population for example.

Serious answer, this is coming via the UN. Also per the UN within 10 years India will replace China as the most populous nation. The key to all this us....drum roll education and even basic medical care like vaccines.
