*****OFFICIAL I DIDN'T WATCH THE DEBATES TONIGHT THREAD*****

Came home...ate some dinner. Helped the kids with homework, checked Facebook, did some work emails, read some stuff about BERNIE today, checked the weather and now on DU. I can't give those two-bit asshat flat-earthers a second of my precious time.

So who's with me? Who didn't give a flying fuck through a rolling doughnut about the clown caboose on CNN tonight??

I listened, for probably the 15th time, to a replay of Clara-Jumi Kang's International Tchaikovsky Competition final round.. Beethoven and Tchaikovsky violin concerti.

But as that takes about an hour and a half.. here is the Sarasate CARMEN FANTASY with Yeol Eum Son.

If this doesn't make your day, nothing will.

I am so glad, so glad...
I am in tears every time I hear her. That's why I went to Portugal from NY just for 2 days to hear her. I met her after a rehearsal and she even invited my friend and I for dinner ! Just the 3 of us. What a precious human being she is.

I tell you, there may be/were other great violinists in the world- Perlman, Kremer, Repin, Chang, Mutter, et al. I grew up with Oistrakh, Menuhin, Stern.. BUT, as great as they were/are, they are just violinists. Clara- is a gift from the gods. All human feeling and experience just flows through her. It comes from....dare I say.. above... and comes out.. like.. a blinding light.
One can not turn away.

There are many more videos on You tube. Someone had uploaded the full length Tchaikovsky Competition Medici videos, all 3 rounds but they are mostly gone. fortunately I downloaded them.
If you do facebook she just got an account (the one with the blue dress) ( she is very shy). But we have a Clara-Jumi Kang Unofficial Fan Club .. check it out if you like.

Be prepared for more tears.

HERE are tears ! Do you know harmony? if so, Clara KNOWS how to play a IV chord !!

And another little present for you.

The TCHAI "Winners' concert in Moscow, July 2 I think..Valery Gergiev and the Marinsky Orchestra.
Just the last movement of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto

I have never in my life heard ANYONE play this at this tempo. it is even faster than she played it during the competition. 180mm at the beginning and 184mm by the end. And getting down and dirty.. not afraid to make 'ugly' sounds on the g string when she wants it....And she does it while smiling at and and joking around with the orchestra like she is at a garden party ! Just stunning. The house went nuts! They KNEW Clara was REALLY the Gold medalist.. not 4th place....Except of course for Putin. who does NOT like a girl winning anything.

It was on our break room TV at work. Much consternation among some co-workers whether or not to have it on. Ironically, most were progressives wanting it on for entertainment value. I saw/heard only as long as it took to microwave my dinner and eat quickly, and refill my water bottle several times.

Summation, and noting no particular candidate(s):

-Much vitriol as they tried to out-do each other as the ultimate hawk willing/wishing to go to war...and use the big stuff.

-Pandering to christian fundamentalists; pro-life this, values that.

-An utterly pathological steadfast belief in trickle down economics, with the most outspoken ones trumpeting their bonafides.

To me, it wasn't entertainment. It was infuriating.
