Lost Or Not The GOP Still Controls A Lot Offices At The National, State & Local Levels.

It does not matter how crazy or out of touch the GOP is. It does not matter how low their approval rating is, they still control a lot of offices nation wide. And nothing much will change in 2016 because of gerrymandering, voter fraud, media manipulation et al. They will still be in power in enough place to thwart any progress in the US.

They may even get control of more state legislatures and even governorships the way the political landscape is arranged. They will have nearly a billion dollars to buy ads all over the country in almost every race.

We can't even get rid of that clerk in Kentucky. The legislature will NEVER impeach her even if she stays home and draws her check.

GOPPER supporters are just plain pig headed. They will never change and they will never relent. Unless we have a wave election that goes Democratic we will be in the same pickle that we are in now.

And I do not know how to get eligible voters to vote. And they may just vote GOP. A disgruntled and angry public is on predictable. I wish I had more faith in the electorate. But after 35 years of election since Reagan we have only seemed to go backwards.

Sure we elected Obama twice and had Democratic majorities for while recently, but the voter gave it all back to the GOP. We certainly would have been better off if Democrats had larger majorities that could get something done. Pelosi had the advantage when she was speaker but the voters did not elect enough Dems to get their agenda passed.

seem to be oblivious to.

I live in New Mexico. We have a Republican Governor, Susanna Martinez, who has been suggested as a possible VP candidate. I say, take her. The country's loss would be this state's gain. More to the point, she's been a terrible governor, especially where our schools are concerned. And schools are the number one issue, and usually the biggest line item in the state budget, for every single state out there. I'll spare you the details, but she's been a disaster for this state.

My interest in the presidential race now is SCOTUS appointments and any of our candidates would take care of that well.. Other than this the office means squat without a working congress and working state and local officials. Otherwise, we live in the US of Kansas. You aren't going to get a darned thing done as long as we end up with Teabaggers elected to office where legislating needs to occur. The don't want government to eork.

For years now, the "THE GOP IS IN TROUBLE" posts just are completely oblivious to what is out there.

My political awareness goes back to the early 90s, and I remember being absolutely flummoxed how people bought the republican bullshit, it was just so counter intuitive. I remember being at the gym with fricken Rush on the radio and people I liked and got along with nodding and agreeing with everything he spewed. I had no real idea of who he was, but I knew what he said made absolutely no sense what so ever. Who were all these evil "limousine liberals," these dark, evil people in this country who were tearing it down. I liberally had never met one.

But, in the 90s, they put a lot of time and effort into trying to put SOME kind if intellectual veneer to it, babbilng about the constitution and states rights.

Today, they just wake up in the morning and scream about the worst news they see and how it is the liberals fault, even if what they are screaming about contradicts what they were screaming about yesterday.

And, they have MORE power today than they did a quarter century ago.

What I have sadly learned is the churn of negativity sucks in 40% of this country EVERY DAY, that there are about 25% of us who for some reason, like being immune the plague, who don't get sucked into it, but we have about 1/100 of the intensity toward politics that the angry people do, and the rest of the country is completely removed and when they do tune in get sucked into whatever bullshit the right is spewing more often that not.

I used to watch Star Trek the Next Generation and thought THAT was what we could, or would be come.

Sadly, I now know we are most likely headed to Idiocracy.

get out there and start the grass roots movement to get voters to the polls for state and local elections. No position should ever be on a ballot of any kind where a GOPer is unchallenged for the position. Down to dog catcher.
