A friend of mine had PTSD from his days in Vietnam. He didn't die of suicide, but he destroyed himself with alcohol and eating. It was gradual suicide, so it doesn't make the statistics.

is one of the most shameful parts of our recent history. We tried to wash our hands of that war by just sweeping them the rug.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of some real champions, we seem set to repeat that history with Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.

I'm still pissed at him for not supporting an improved GI Bill. Well, he's an admiral, so I guess he doesn't need any benefits for himself. Screw the enlisted people.
