Carly Fiorina Won GOP Debate, but Trump Still Leads: NBC Online Survey

More than a third of Republican voters say that Carly Fiorina performed best in the Wednesday night debate on CNN. But debate performances don't translate into vote preference overnight, and Donald Trump maintains his position at the top of the Republican pack, according to the latest NBC News online survey conducted by SurveyMonkey from Wednesday through Friday.

enjoying support among republicans. This is in spite of the media and opposition candidates doing everything in their power to go after him.

I think this "popularity" of Trump only goes to put emphasis on the fallacy of "it never could happen here", that under the right conditions it just might

Suburban and rural whites are mad as Hell over issues that don't even register on the radar of many urban and minority voters. Conservative voters like Trump because:

- He is unfiltered, and conservative voters are fed-up with politicians generally and PC speech in particular.
- Many conservative whites love the idea of building a wall and throwing out "the illegals", as they refer to most Spanish-speaking immigrants.
- Conservatives tend to equate money and intelligence.
- Many Republicans are fed up with politicians within their own party, and view Trump as an outsider who will solve problems.

My concern is that, in the GE, the 30-35% of the voters in the independent middle will like Trump for his entertainment value and vote him in.

That big, ugly lie is more than likely why the pool shows here as being perceived as having won.

Two polls today. Two different results. Trump is up in the NBC poll, down in the CNN one. Rubio is up in the CNN poll, down in the NBC (nearly flat).

17 % of people having seen this debate thought Trump looked the most presidential. The poll was made on SurveyMonkey. Two things that tell me what I should know about it.

Not that I think the CNN poll is more valuable. This is utter BS at this point.

I thought he lost the debate just by being boring. I was about to fall asleep anytime he spoke. He made Joe Lieberman seem charismatic.
