The Pope has ample faith that the Lord will provide.

Through us, his humble servants, the Lord has provided abundant security, including bullet-proof glass and thousands of law enforcement personnel and equipment.

Besides, God helps those who help themselves.

I realize protection is needed yet on some level it seems silly to me the claim of an all powerful God. If God was that powerful and the Pope was that close to God as believed then why doesn't God protect him supernaturally without man's help?
I know I'm being sarcastic and unrealistic but to me there is a sliver of truth to what I say.

If God wants you to be safe, you'll be safe. That safety could come in any form, be it bullet proof glass, security details, etc... If your time is up and God wants to see you in his office, regardless of the security you have, you'll be there for the meeting.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”

One imagines that trusting in the Lord is quite a different matter than trusting the free will of people.

However, I understand we all feel the desire to trivialize that which we do not wish to understand... regardless of how we may rationalize it as something else.

The Pope has faith, but he ain't stupid! God works in indirect ways...not 'jump in the line of fire' ways.
