New French Law Passed: All New Rooftops Must Be Covered With Plants Or Solar Panels

New French Law Passed: All New Rooftops Must Be Covered With Plants Or Solar Panels

http://myscienceacademy.org/2015/09/20/new-french-law-passed-all-new-rooftops-must-be-covered-with-plants-or-solar-panels/

A new law that was passed that mandates that new buildings in commercial lots need to have either plants or solar panels on the roof. Having a garden on your roof sounds like a paradise, one that’s easily obtainable and should be happening all over the world. Plants create an isolating effect to help reduce the energy needed to heat or cool houses.

They also absorb rainwater to help prevent leaks, provide a home to small critters and insects and most importantly it connects us back to nature. Combining modern society with the natural world is exactly what we need to do and this is a good start.

Originally, French environmental activists wanted the law to cover the entire roof but they decided to start with participially covered roofs to see how it does.

Solar panels on the roofs of businesses is amazing because it helps reduce the amount of energy they use while creating sustainable, renewable energy instead.

Flat roofs tend to cave in because they retain too much water. Too much moisture. Someone could come up with an innovative concept that can give us the best of all worlds.

Or, those of us who live in Florida can just wait for global warming to take its toll.

Paris imagines a green city for 2050

The City of Paris has asked the engineering firm Setec Bâtiment, as well as the Belgian architect Vincent Callebaut, to come up with an idea of what the capital could be in 2050. The study released by the Journal du Dimanche imagines a city adapted to climatic constraints and resolutely green.

There's a lot to love about France. I respect their education system, strong sense of individual rights and appreciation of the meaning of democracy, and the fact that they exercise controls over their corporations to a greater extent than the U.S. These things probably contribute to safer operation of nuclear plants. But they are concerned about the eventual decommissioning costs of their nuclear plants.

(Sorry if you've heard this) When Bette Davis and Joan Crawford were making "What ever to Baby Jane", they grew to despise each other...wouldn't even speak to each other. Davis called her "Hollywood's nasty, mean slut" Anyway, when Crawford died, a reporter asked Miss Davis what she thought of Crawford's death. Bette said: "My parents always taught me to speak good of the dead..so..
Joan Crawford is dead..Good"

Actually if the truth is told, I am...but I'll never get a chance to get one I'm sure. Ah well.

This thing scared me at first; the headline didn't mention the 'commercial' part and I'm like "GAHHOWCANTHEYAFFORD...oh...".
