Job Description
General Purpose/Summary Statement:
The Lead Social Media Strategist position exists to guide business areas on social and content strategy and is responsible for publishing content for all social platforms. This position requires a thorough knowledge of content strategy and best practices for social content to ensure that content supports social media objectives and is consistent across all ministry digital services. Testing, analysis, and understanding of social media and content strategy best practices are key.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Leads the team in social media
Analyzes and governs social content
Works in concert with Marketing to plan and orchestrate social media contests, sweepstakes and marketing campaigns
Guides and assists team in providing appropriate content and materials to support the strategic direction of Focus on the Family's digital properties
Serves as liaison to KMI owners, translating their strategies into social communications strategy through an understanding of the ministry's channels and digital properties
Is responsible for quality assurance (writing, editing, & proof-reading) social content, as well as coaching others to use best practices in order to ensure that social content is in line with overall digital content strategy and industry best practices
Obtains and analyzes usage statistics and user feedback
Stays current on content usability standards and best practices for all digital communications platforms
Researches industry best practices and user behavior to inform social strategy decisions, and keeps up to date with emerging technologies
Builds a strong relationship with partnering departments, encouraging an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork on behalf of Focus on the Family
Is responsible for growing and engaging Facebook, Twitter and YouTube communities and any future Social Communities
Advises Focus on the family departments on digital and social trends that are relevant to the ministry
Provides social advice for the development of any public facing web property at Focus on the Family.
Represents social media in the creation and implementation of marketing strategies for: mobile, internet, viral, promotional, video, social and revenue generating campaigns
Supports the greater digital content strategy of Focus on the Family
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, wireless, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family

Avid interest in current digital trends, especially as it relates to the key components of communications through content delivery
Required Experience
Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or related field
4-6 years of experience with digital strategies and design for targeting audiences
Photoshop experience required
Knowledge of digital content best practices, accessibility standards, and usability testing
Experience managing projects, including resource and time estimation, and planning
General marketing experience helpful
Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:
Strong written communication skills e.g., writing/editing for the Web, mobile and app
Strong verbal skills
Organized and detail-oriented
Ability to handle multiple projects at once
Ability to meet tight deadlines
Ability to operate as a liaison; to identify needs/opportunities and link resources across the ministry
