The political operations of the CTGOP are dead and buried...the only viable candidates they run in statewide races are the ones that self-run and import their own campaign staff.

There is a very real possibility if the CTGOP continues to lose seats in the CGA and CT Senate at the same time they're not really competitive in Congressional races and lose the gubernatorial races easily whenever we don't run a shitty 3rd-wayer for Governor (and still lose, just by small margins when we do run crappy candidates like Malloy) that they will cease to be a viable political entity in the near future. The only races the GOP wins in CT are for municipal positions...and the majority of local GOP officeholders are more liberal than the right-flank of the national Democratic party.

Our electable Republicans are true-moderates, our Democrats are to the left of that. There is no viable right-wing in CT.

Also, even small business owners and fiscal conservatives (social moderates and liberals...and in CT that definitely makes you a Republican) like Blumy because he's very responsive to their issues and comments, even when he disagrees on policy.

The GOP bench for the 2018 Governor's race is quite thin. Besides John McKinney, the rest of them would have trouble against either Kevin Lembo or George Jepsen.
They should have taken Etsy out of the fifth district and failed to do (9 point loss) so despite 2014 being a good year for their party nationally.
