that we cannot judge the past by present standards. When exactly did they add "Thou shalt not kill" to the Ten Commandments, after the Little Big Horn? Yes we can judge the past by today's standards because we have the same standards now for thousands of years. And the Pope was the one who divided the world between the Christian kings and got a 20% cut on all the plunder.

I agree with what you have written, but I think that this is the first Pope, in my lifetime, who has been so vocal on the part of the poor and disenfranchised so I can't dismiss him.

He, the Dali Lama, Desmond Tutu, I'm sure there are others, give off that same vibe, but Francis's reach and message seems to be reaching so many more.

Unfortunately, the centuries of doctrine color some of his beliefs, but he gets the important stuff.

because unlike those anti-choice assholes he is speaking to, the Pope is truly Pro-life. I know this Pope also cares what happens to the fetus after it is born because he wants us to do better with helping the poor. I know this Pope is against war and against the Death Penalty. So I'm fine with his stance on choice.

I know I won't agree with good people on all the issues. But when someone is working this hard for helping those who are poor and against war - not going to stand in their way.

In a way he reminds me of the first Pope John Paul and how I imagine his papacy would have evolved. I have the utmost respect for Pope Francis.

IF he emphasizes to these clowns that capital punishment is WRONG and that the criminal's life is just as sacred as the fetus. Short of that, he gets no pass from me.

UPDATE: And he appears to have done that, so I now officially give him a pass on the issue. (I know he will be relieved).

Seriously, I am very happy to hear him denounce the death penalty.

although my brief visit to "another site" a couple of minutes ago was quite appalling if not surprising. if i didnt want to see their traffic increase i would recommend people seeing for themselves.

we think the infighting at du has gotten bad? we aint seen nothing yet. the vile and putrid filth directed at the dem nom and progressives will be the worst imo we have ever seen in this country.

but i think the ads will definitely help to point out the bigoted hypocrites that they are..
