The website is unambiguously named: WomenforDonaldTrump.com. Launched in late July, the home page features several smiling 20-somethings holding signs: "I Believe in Trump"; "People for a Stronger America"; "Trump: Make America Great Again." The tagline - "Principle, Patriotism, Strength and Leadership" - sums up what they believe to be their candidate's most important attributes.

And there's more:

As women, Trump reminds us of something we haven't seen in a long time: strong, Alpha males in politics. Many of those whining about Trump's rise in popularity ... have forgotten what a MAN is. Trump takes the values conservative women hold precious: limited government, equal justice for all, the Constitution, life, secure borders, and most of all PRIDE IN BEING A PRINCIPLED COUNTRY and he refuses to back down ... It has been so long since we have seen this kind of strength (perhaps it has been relegated only to Wall Street and the business community as man-cuckholding (sic) feminism sweeps other areas of our national stage) and as women (we) appreciate seeing it again!

Yes, it's Donald Trump as "Real Man." In fact, Women for Donald Trump sees their candidate - a straight, 69-year-old, 6-foot-3, white father of five - as the prototype for American masculinity. Perhaps surprisingly, this model of manhood is catching fire.

A September Gallup poll showed Trump's support among GOP women at 54 percent, a 13-point jump from the previous month. This, despite the derogatory statements Trump hurled at Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, comedian Rosie O'Donnell and candidate Carly Fiorina. The upshot is that Trump can no longer be seen as a fringe candidate; he has rapidly ascended and is a contender in every sense of the word.

"It used to look like nominating Donald Trump would be an unmitigated disaster for the Republicans," Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling, said in a statement. "But now he's doing better against Hillary Clinton than a lot of their perceived electable candidates." ........................(more)

The female conservative pundits that I know who are Trump supporters are all about the fact that they think Trump is "strong".

They only seem to know one kind of strength and thus one kind of alpha male.

Gandhi, in my opinion, was strong. But I dont think they would see him that way.

Stephen Hawking is doubly strong, both for his brain and his overcoming adversity. Again, I dont think conservatives would see it that way.

That 54% of the women who are in the 30% of voters who identify as GOP support a blowhard with facist tendencies doesn't shock me--but that is what, less than 15% of the voting public? Not that I believe he will last thru primary season anyway...he'll get bored or decide it's not profitable enough or get taken out by some stupidity like the "veterans" nonsense. Silly season is lasting awfully long this year.

30% of Americans identify as GOP, more of those are men than women so lets say 14% are women vs 16% men. 54% of 14% is 7.56%

That low of a percentage can be found believing in all kinds of crazy stuff.

I mean seriously, we should unpack the layers of stereotype that causes us to be surprised at this.

Personally, I think Sanders represents masculinity better. "You heard me right: 'socialist'. Bring it, fuckers."

I think if we could honestly and objectively examine what polls tell us, we'd be more successful as a party.

Ms. Silver, 71 years old, said the former Hewlett-Packard executive’s performance was so strong she began rethinking her support for celebrity businessman Donald Trump.

For now, Ms. Silver is sticking with Mr. Trump but she is part of a shrinking pool: Female voters’ support for the first-time candidate dropped 12 percentage points among likely GOP voters after last week’s CNN debate, according to a CNN/ORC poll conducted Sept. 17-19. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3%.

That decline in support helped drive down Mr. Trump’s standing in the primary field. Although still the front-runner, his backing tumbled by eight percentage points, to 24% from 32% in a CNN/ORC poll conducted Sept. 4-8. Of those who tuned in to watch the debate, 31% of the likely GOP voters said he did the worst job—the highest percentage of any candidate.

is Trump really worse than any other candidate they have up there? Women voting Republican are kind of voting against their own self interests in a lot of cases already. And Trump has been less horrible about women's issues than his opponents.

I agree about it being somewhat of an alpha male thing. It's a biological imperative that hasn't gone away. Alpha males verging on or actually being straight up assholes are pretty big in romance books now. It's beyond me to understand, because I despise assholes, but there you are.
