Every day, I wonder why reporters do such a bad job talking about the world that surrounds us and the world far away. Every time, I think I am not going to be surprised. And every day, I am surprised.
Today's winner.

A Chicago television news station made a truly unfortunate art choice to accompany a segment on the Jewish High Holidays on Wednesday: the yellow Star of David that Jews were legally required to wear during the Holocaust.

In a statement posted online, the station said the picture came from its image bank, and they "failed to recognize that the image was an offensive Nazi symbol."

"We are extremely embarrassed and we deeply apologize to our viewers and to the Jewish community for this mistake," the WGN statement said. "Ignorance is not an excuse."

The station was also taking apologies to its viewers out of the public sphere, with "J. Lyons, News Dir." directing individual users to direct message WGN's account.

Sadly, it becomes more and more obvious that media people are less and less knowledgeable these days, and this is a serious threat, w

hen information is distorted not only by bias, but by mere stupidity.

1. Been going on for 3 decades now and every second of it has harmed America

until we've reached THIS low point. The M$M is a joke the world over and it only gets worse with each passing day. Part of it is the need for ratings vs. the need to tell us the truth. Sadly the truth doesn't count for much nor does accuracy when it comes to ratings.

I saw a picture of what you are talking about and there is NO WAY anyone could be confused about the yellow star and what it means...hell it was still attached to concentration camp clothing!

Dangerous, lazy and only out for a profit...media in this country has no idea what real journalism is like...it has all moved online and away from the stupidity that is the mainstream.

2. I just got back from London and read different newspapers there

There are so many newspapers with different viewpoints. A lot of the papers are free and The ones I read had more insight than the crap I get in my local newspaper in San Francisco. I read so much international news from a different perspective. The TV news is much more thought provoking and even handed. There were allegations of Cameron having an incident with a pigs head. The news reported it as speculative and distasteful. There was also a story about Corbyn and some " anonymous" general saying if he is elected there would be a coup. They reported it and said again this is from one source so we are cautious in reporting this as fact. I switched around to different stations news and it was pretty much reported the same. In US this would be reported as fact and tabloid like for several days.

America is becoming so dumbed down, I'm embarrassed. Also they think we Americans are nuts to even consider Trump as presidential material.
