McCarthy is more like Boehner than a Tea Partier. But it is being set up so that the leadership after him is all Tea Party.
McCarthy thinks he has come to some arrangement with the "Freedom caucus". What he doesn't realize is, the arrangement involves coaching several of them until they are ready to unseat him.

(17,064 posts)That's a deal killer for the tea-baggers. I think the House will go full on batshit crazy for next Speaker. The real GOP will be on full display to voters for an entire year before GE. That will help Dems.

I read the write-up on each of them, and McCarthy appears tio be the LEAST CRAZY of the four.
I HOPE Congress can get a budget passed BEFORE Boner leaves, and even more important is that thy raise the debt ceiling which will be reached by Oct. 31.
