Congressman sips from Pope Francis's discarded glass of water

Pope bands? So boring. Pope dolls? So kitsch. In the great panoply of papal merchandise, congressman Bob Brady of Philadelphia may just have clinched the very best: the Holy Father’s glass of water.

Pope Francis was sipping from the glass during his speech to Congress on Thursday, and when he made his way out of the chamber he left his drink unattended. That’s where Brady stepped in.

I'm a recovering Catholic in NYC and as such have been caught up in Pope-mania to a degree. BUT when I saw this article I thought WAIT A MINUTE. I get the whole holy water thing - but this isn't holy water, it's GERMY water. Two people's personal microbes are in this water now and Brady wants to bless his grandkids with it? (I don't know how Brady thinks he's blessing anyone in the first place - I assume he isn't ordained in any religion.) To be more charitable, he must have just gotten caught up in the excitement and has thought better of it. I hope.
