Is it possible that the Pope's visit may put an end to Trump's candidacy?
Over the past few days, we've watched a man of great humility and quiet grace speak with compassion and love. Contrast this with the narcissistic, belligerent, thin-skinned bully named Trump.
I'm not saying that the ugliness of the wingnut crazies will completely disappear. But it seems to me that the past few days may have brought a bit of an aura of sanity that has touched many.
When Monday rolls around and the spotlight once again swings to the rancid carnival that we call a presidential campaign, is it possible that many Trump supporters will sober up?
There's a saying that goes: "If you want to be heard, whisper." The Pope has whispered to America. And I think that it will make those who shout look pale by comparison.
I'm a devout agnostic who steers clear of organized religion as much as possible. And I disagree with many of the Pope's beliefs on women, sex, etc. Nonetheless, I've been touched by this man. You don't have to be Catholic to recognize his decency and humanity.
