Cheney still loves torture and spying on Americans, too

When asked about NSA spying and “enhanced interrogations,” i.e. torture, Cheney said those activities “helped us save lives, helped us find out a lot more about Al Qaeda.”

Cavuto did bring up the Bush administration’s failure to prevent 9/11. “Jeb Bush has said his brother kept us safe. Democrats quickly countered and said that '9/11 occurred under your brother’s watch.' …What do you think of that?” Cavuto asked.

Cheney had the nerve to deny it and then blame the Clinton administration. “No, it’s not true,” he said. “Anybody who’s spent time there or who was there or who was involved in the history and looked carefully at it – the situation we’d inherited from the Clinton administration was, there hadn’t been any effective response, really, to the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole the year before.”

As Think Progress reported in 2009, Cheney has previously tried to duck responsibility for 9/11 by blaming Richard Clarke, the former counterterrorism chief under Presidents Clinton and Bush. But, as Think Progress also revealed, Clarke repeatedly warned the Bush administration about the threat from Al Qaeda and presented an extensive plan to “roll back” the organization. All of which were ignored by the Bush/Cheney administration.

Not surprisingly, Cavuto never mentioned any of that, either.

I lived though the 90s, and I have hard memory of that bullshit.

There are all kinds of quotes from DC elected Rs and their conservative media whores screaming about him using terrorism to deflect attention from the much more important issue of their efforts to find some reason to impeach him, I still remember Rush grinding away about it on AM radio.

But, it is what they do, what they media gleefully parrots for them and the simple minded dolts of this country dutifully either let go or parrot.

I went round and round and round post 9-11 and throughout Bush IIs term with "conservatives" who completely washed Bush of any responsibility for 9-11 because it was Clinton's fault. Meanwhile, I literally had countless "conservatives" who were fed up with Bush being held responsible for the economy who I had say or post BEFORE BHO even took office that he now owned the economy.

That was of course, was before, like Clinton the economy did well and they turned to the scancal meme.

And, of course, all the bullshit of you can't criticize the commander in chief when there are troops in the field was never again muttered after January 19, 2009.

It just hopeless, there is NO convincing republicans of anything other than what they WANT to believe, despite the total fantasy it may be, and the media is going to do what it does, go along with their bullshit, and the people of this country will do what they do, mostly tune out and when they do tune in mostly just go along with whatever stupidity the republicans are screaming out.
