Thanks to all who entered, voted, and enjoyed the photos.
Big thanks to Solly Mack for stepping in when circumstances kept me away from the computer. I was too distracted and exhausted, you recognized the problem and took appropriate action. Mira, you were a big help too. You are rock solid.
Congratulations to the winners!
mnhtnbb, it is your turn to challenge us with the October theme.

(90,762 posts)A big hand to our host, alfredo, who's had a long week.
You're welcome, alfredo. I'm always happy to help.
If you keep thanking me people might decide I'm actually nice and that would change my entire DU experience.

(24,545 posts)This was a delightful contest, and all the entries were fun to see.
Binkie The Clown
(7,911 posts)but just how do you pronounce that name anyway?
@Mira - I love those colors!
mnhtnbb
(31,381 posts)it's short for Manhattan Baby. My dad called me that when I was a kid--I was born in Manhattan--
and the bb also are my initials.

(31,381 posts)Congratulations to Binkie The Clown and Mira! I really loved both those photos!
And thanks to Solly Mack and Mira for helping out alfredo during a very tough time.
alfredo, I had to scratch my head trying to think of something for this contest. Ended up
going back in my photo archives--way back to 2009 when we went to Peru--because I remembered
the turn-out at this high point on the road from Cuzco to Puno and Lake Titicaca. With some cropping
and minimal post processing doctoring of the original single shot I took of the handicrafts laid out on the rocks, I figured that
would have to be my entry. It sure was a lot of fun revisiting that trip through the photos, too!
OK, I'm on it! My husband and I are leaving Tuesday on a trip, but I will have the October theme and information posted
before we go!

(22,380 posts)I was hoping the skin colors show that it was real colors, not processing. I'm passing that little place every day at the moment and am part of the neighborhood now so they wave at me when I do. I will take them an 8x10 in a frame next week, and I feel certain they'll hang it up inside.

(22,380 posts)and to all who entered and placed.
ManhattanBaby you took me back to Peru, where I once was lucky enough to see Macchu Piccu, going up on the switchblade bus ride which was so scary that I walked down through the jungle. My photos are slides and very old now.
And Binkie, I feel the nostalgia in your photograph, and congratulate you on your deserved win of the magic of second place.

(22,380 posts)The sugar cone mountain sticking up is Huana piccu (new mountain) - Macchu piccu being the old one.
One can climb it on a foot wide path, but there are places where without a rope or anything you have to go around bends with no knowledge of what's coming, and the straight down drop to the Urubamba river is about a kilometer, maybe many. (LOL)
Even though I was very young when there, I had to turn back from trying to climb it.
