Unusual College Classes 2015: Beyoncé, Zombies And Harry Potter Among Course Topics

The link has the actual classes that are offered. And we wonder why not only are students raking up big loans for unnecessary classes but then complain when they have a Bachelor's Degree that is useless. We need to wake up because the rest of the world is studying Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus.

Here's a tip for incoming college freshmen: Class doesn't have to be boring. If you plan your schedule carefully, you will have time for some fun.

Course offerings change every semester, and many schools peg seminars and pop culture classes to current events. Chances are you'll have to take ancient history or molecular chemistry courses at some point, but you'll also have opportunities to explore topics you genuinely think are interesting, like zombie survival tactics or Harry Potter. Check out a few of the offerings at various institutions for the upcoming school year

then I have no problem with kids learning that, just like in the rest of the world. Yes, I know that's not the context of those courses, yet the sciences aren't the only subjects the rest of the world teaches its children

From a survival, emergency management standpoint it can be used as a hypothetical all encompassing disaster scenario...Government agencies use it sometimes because it keeps the training excercises fun and interesting.

In a literature or movie making type of class its pretty self evident.

From a historical perspective, you can look at the anthropological bases that created the myths in many different cultures.

From a psychology standpoint it could look at why people are so facinated with the zombie genre.

Though it's hard to keep track of the slow zombies, fast zombies, blaster zombies and whatever they're going to come up with next.

After watching all that shit I just know I'm destined to be zombie food.

Not to take away from your thoughtful response.

You'll find, for instance, that the zombie class is a sociology class about how people behave in emergencies. The Harry Potter class is an intro about criticial assesement of books.
