GOP launches special panel to demagogue about Planned Parenthood
In a renewed effort to slash federal funding from Planned Parenthood, House Republicans plan to launch a new congressional panel to investigate abortion services by the embattled womens reproductive health organization.
Tennessee congresswoman Marsha Blackburn unveiled in a YouTube video on Saturday the partys three-part plan to limit abortion rights, a move she said would defend our unborn children. Her announcement comes after the release of highly edited videos secretly recorded by an anti-abortion group showed Planned Parenthood officials discussing fetal tissue donation. The videos have triggered backlash throughout Republican and conservative circles.

Blackburn said that GOP lawmakers will pass additional pro-life measures and redouble our efforts so that you are not forced to fund this organization. She added that Republican leaders will activate the reconciliation process, a procedural tool that prevent bills from being filibustered and pass with a simple majority in the Senate.

The GOPs strategy is similar to move they made last year to establish a committee to probe former secretary of state and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clintons handling of the September 2012 attacks in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.

Via Charles Pierce, who comments:
Blackburn is, of course, a nut. She makes Trey Gowdy, the lop-headed Clouseau of Benghazi, look like Henry Clay. Back during the Ebola scare, she heard the director of the CDC talk about "porous borders" in Africa and she thought he was talking about Mexico. She even was nutty enough to flirt briefly with a presidential run this time around, before leaving the female side of the field to noted truth-teller Carly Fiorina, who I guarantee you will get some run before this committee. This is what will happen. The committee will be gaveled into session. It will leak like a sieve. It will prove nothing of what it sets out to prove. It will adjourn. And some woman far from Washington will die of cervical cancer because she can't get a screening.
