The Pope DID meet Davis!

Well color me hoodwinked. Bad move, Frank. Now I can go back to hating the Catholic Church without reservation. Thanks!

Had to add this funny FB post from Andy Borowitz "By meeting both Congress and Kim Davis, the Pope showed compassion for people who refuse to do their jobs."

But meeting with this bigoted asshole has totally turned me off to him. And why would he keep it secret unless he knew it was not going to sit well with the American public.

I’m glad he’s sticking it to the Man-he just doesn’t want a man to be sticking it in another man. Maybe he’ll do some good for the poor and the environment but he’s still the same old bigoted fuckwad that has always been in that position.

Fuck That Noise.

If he thinks she is so wonderful - why was the meeting so secretive? I read that it was all set up by some muckety muck(s) in the Vatican and the American bishops didn't even know about it.

HUGE error on his part. I bet they regret the hell out of it now.

Give both sides moral support (conservatives on social issues and liberals on economic issues) and then let them go at it.

Religion's been good at dividing people for a very long time.

he won't come right out and say he did meet with her. If he met with her, why won't he confirm it by saying he did?

Maybe he doesn't want to expose a fellow hater of gays as a liar by letting it out that he didn't meet with her.

No what I mean, eh eh, nudge nudge, wink wink.

He wouldn’t want his newly-made and now, it seems, unfounded adoration to be tarnished for the sake of one dumb broad in America. He met her, he got “caught”, realized what a fucking tragic, stupid, careless move that was and now won’t say anything other than “yeah I met her”.

Last November FRC and Perkins were invited participants at the Vatican's 3 day anti marriage equality conference where Francis was the key speaker. The Vatican official who organized the Rome conference in November also organized the Philly conference this week.
It's a small world. Kim and the Pope have friends in common.

Thom "met with" the previous Pope. During state visits the Vatican ambassador arranges "audiences" - a photo op - with several dozen invitees. They form a line and do the "hi how are you?" thing. A meeting lasts a few seconds. The entire session takes maybe a half-hour.

He speculates that Davis was the guest of some Republican elected official, he doubts that the embassy would be so stupid as to invite such a divisive figure.

I find this plausible.

Then again, our outlook kind of mirrors who we are - we trust because we are trustworthy, and view others through our own lens. We are apt to be disappointed by our trusting view...hopefully not so much that we cease to be who we are.

With all due respect, to say “told you so” isn’t exactly the high road. You were right. I admitted I was wrong. if you feel like patting yourself on the back go right ahead. I think the majority of us who were giving him a pass were lapsed Catholics who already found plenty to disagree with- hence the lapsed, ex, or atheist prefix.

I don’t mean any bad-will, its just I’m straight out fucking tired of hearing this after I admitted I was dead wrong.

I was hoping he’d come in time to start really practicing the “Love one another as I have loved you” part of Jesus’ message and that would mean EVERYONE - LGBT, divorced, women who’ve had abortions, etc etc, but it seems my old church is just as ass-backward as they were when they put Galileo in jail.

The one good thing he did was to knock Trump out of the media spotlight for a few days, and that was kind of a miracle in itself!!!
