Elijah Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the Benghazi Committee:

Last edited Wed Sep 30, 2015, 02:21 PM - Edit history (2)

Kevin McCarthy credits Benghazi committee for Clinton damage

“This stunning concession from Rep. McCarthy reveals the truth that Republicans never dared admit in public: the core Republican goal in establishing the Benghazi Committee was always to damage Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and never to conduct an even-handed search for the facts. It is shameful that Republicans have used this tragedy and the deaths of our fellow Americans for political gain. Republicans have blatantly abused their authority in Congress by spending more than $4.5 million in taxpayer funds to pay for a political campaign against Hillary Clinton.” Elijah Cummings

We see the returns every time the issue is brought up on DU and a chorus of posters chime in to beat Clinton over the head with it.

Funny that GOP would work so hard to destroy her when we're told day-in and day-out that she's a Republican clone.

And, in true Clinton Rules form, HRC gets held responsible for all the "scandals" that were ginned up by Rs. Talk about a vicious cycle. Democrats who jump on this crap should be ashamed.

We're told day-in and day-out (on DU) that the gop REALLY, REALLY wants to face HRC in the G/E ... as they work so hard to destroy her.

up to the plate and face off with the Republicans like he does. This should go viral. They have wasted so much of our money on nonsensical issues that the public needs to be hammered with those figures/facts. Enough, already!

i don't think he can believe they (the repubs) would actually admit this...i guess there are no repercussions for using congressional committees for political purpose?

Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee. A select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known that any of that had happened had we not fought to make that happen.

Color me shocked ... If anyone has any doubt about HRC's "trust-worthiness" deficit/falling numbers, they are merely pretending.

COUNT on it. If Bernie gets the nom, we'll hear all about how he was friendly with Daniel Ortega and the Sandanistas in the 80's, and how he "honeymooned" in the Soviet Union. If will be brutal, and relentless, funded by endless Koch money.

Of course, if Uncle Joe gets the nod, we'll be reminded of his plagiarism scandel, and how he didn't want to do the Bin Laden raid, constantly reminded of all his "gaffes."

That's GOP rules.

But I guess DUers will cross that bridge when they come to it.

But the crossing should be a bit easier ... there won't be "Democrats" pushing the attacks.
