Presidential Candidate Jim Gilmore Will Pay $40,000 SC Filing Fee Today

COLUMBIA, SC -- Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, a candidate for the Republican nomination for President, will be in Columbia today to pay the required $40,000 filing fee to be listed as a candidate on the South Carolina Republican Presidential Primary ballot.

Gilmore will be at the headquarters of the South Carolina Republican Party headquarters in Columbia at 11:30 a.m. this morning to file the paperwork for his candidacy and pay the fee to be on the ballot. South Carolina's "first-in-the-South" GOP primary will be held on Feb. 20, 2016.

Gilmore, a former U.S. Army intelligence agent, is a former crime busting prosecutor and a former Virginia Attorney General as well as a former Governor. As Governor of Virginia, he cut taxes by more than $1.5 billion and created tens of thousands of jobs for working men and women.

One of the most experienced candidates seeking the office of President, Gilmore is the former chairman of a national commission that warned about a domestic terrorist attack before 9/11 and is a recognized authority on homeland security and foreign policy.

To restore America's lagging economy and create jobs for working families, Gilmore has called for tax cuts for all Americans and a 15-percent reduction in the corporate tax rate for all business activity as well as the elimination of the death tax.
