Fortune: America is the richest, and most unequal, countryThe world is awash in personal wealth: $153.2 trillion in total, according to Allianzs new Global Wealth Report 2015. Thats enough to pay three times the worlds sovereign debt, the debts of each nation.
For the first time in this report series, Allianz calculated each countrys wealth Gini coefficient a measure of inequality in which 0 is perfect equality and 100 would mean perfect inequality, or one person owning all the wealth. It found that the U.S. had the most wealth inequality, with a score of 80.56, showing the most concentration of overall wealth in the hands of the proportionately fewest people.
Ironically, the second highest Gini score overall in the Allianz report was found in Sweden, a nation long thought of as egalitarian.
Heres the list of the countries with the highest wealth inequality, according to the Allianz report.
But in fact, Sweden rolled back some of its generous benefits, according to Reuters.

(3,660 posts)1. Damn. Given Carlos Slim and the Juarez slums it's hard to beat Mexico
But then again we have more Slims and near-Slims than they do I guess. But having spent a fair time there I'd be surprised if our poor are poorer than theirs.

Given the horror with which the Right views us becoming even a little more like Sweden OR Germany.

out of any sane voter.
The people who want to return to the U.S. of A. glory days better hold on because it looks like we will be slingshot back to the middle ages.
Where the many work hard (for little or nothing) for the few wealthy and privileged...wait.
Of course the bright side is no more welfare assistance for the poor, disabled, young, old, etc. Plus we can bring back the Inquistion and Holy Wars...wait! Dam, I keep having deja-vu like moments.
