http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/judge-ex-con-assault-victims-not-angels-article-1.2377879An ex-con charged with assaulting two women while on federal supervised release got the break of his life when his violation hearing was heard by a controversial Brooklyn judge who said the victims "weren't angels" and then mocked the U.S. Attorney's office for taking the case too seriously.
Federal Judge Frederic Block, who has a history of putting his unfiltered opinions on the record, apparently thought it was absurd that the prosecutor had prepared a binder containing photos of the victims' injuries.
"You prepared this exhibit as if it were a murder case," Block said, according to a transcript of the Sept. 17 hearing. "There must not be a lot of things that the office has to preoccupy yourself...It's good to see (the U.S. Attorney's office) is not so busy that you have to do this."
Later Block told the prosecutor he didn't mean to be so harsh. "It's a little bit of an overkill," the judge said. "Realistically speaking, it's sort of disproportionate to what we're doing."

(65,616 posts)1. What a blockhead.
So he got mad at seeing evidence of abuse, because he liked the ex-con and thought he needed a break? What a fuckwad.

ever get on the bench?
His rationale was pretty much "all of those dark-skinned people are just inherently violent towards each other, so really not our business."
