JSO: Suspects stole AR-15 and ammo from (unlocked) police vehicle

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/crime/2015/10/01/ar-15-rifle-bulletproof-vest-stolen-unlocked-police-vehicle/73163008/

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is looking for unidentified suspects who stole police equipment, including an AR-15 rifle and a bulletproof vest, from an unmarked Duval County Public Schools police department vehicle, authorities said Thursday.

The suspects wandered through the Hamlet subdivision between 6 p.m. Sept. 27 and 6:30 a.m. Sept. 28, rifling through unlocked vehicles, according to the Sheriff's Office.

At some point, they got inside the unmarked police vehicle and took the rifle, ammunition, a ballistic vest and other police equipment.

Suspects rifled through unlocked cars...stole rifle, ammo, etc from Public School Police Department vehicle... So can we assume that some cops are leaving rifles and gear in unlocked cars? Someone should lose their job...before we hear about this gear being used in a shooting somewhere.

Hopefully they don't plan on using them, but you have to wonder now if they will be used for crime. No excuse, cops that are this irresponsible are a liability to their fellow cops and the community.
