GOP Leader Booed While Defending Benghazi Committee
By Tierney Sneed
Published October 1, 2015, 3:17 PM EDT

Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), the chairwoman of the House Republican Conference, was booed by the audience at the Washington Ideas Forum Thursday while defending the GOP's congressional investigations into the Benghazi attack, The Huffington Post reported.

According to The Huffington Post, the audience booed, hissed and yelled "You're lying!" while McMorris Rodgers attempted to deny that the Benghazi committee was politically-motivated. She had been asked by ABC's Jonathan Karl to weigh in on comments made by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in which he boasted that the committee's investigation had taken a toll on Hillary Clinton's poll numbers.

"I do believe that the work that we're doing in the Benghazi committee is very important," McMorris Rodgers said, during which, according to the Huffington Post, the audience's disapproval only grew louder.

"We've not yet had important questions answered," she continued.

Keep it up GOPukes! I LOVE it when you fuck yourselves over!

.... my own thought is that maybe Benghazi was a "false flag"
operation designed to hurt President Obama and or Hillary Clinton. I really
would put nothing past those jerks. The bottom line is that "they" are really
un-American and see going after the other side as their job.

Hell, Lindsey Graham and Lara Logan made up a phony story about Benghazi
and ran it on 60 minutes and Graham is still in the senate and Logan is back
on 60 minutes.

You've linked to a running tally of the Gowdy committee's expenditures -- now past $4.6 million and climbing. It's clever that they update it second-by-second by extrapolating from last month's spending.

But note this caveat underneath:

This calculation does not include the costs of: the independent Accountability Review Board; the eight previous reports by seven Congressional committees; the time, money, and resources consumed by federal agencies to comply with Select Committee requests; or the opportunity cost of not spending this money elsewhere, like improving security for our diplomatic officers abroad.

I guess adding all that up would be quite a job.

On June 16th, the Benghazi Select Committee, meeting behind closed doors, questioned Hillary Clinton confidant Sidney Blumenthal for nine hours about emails he sent to the then-Secretary of State containing privately gathered intelligence reports from inside Libya.

The release of new emails from Mr. Blumenthal marked a milestone for the committee, characterized committee chairman, Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, as “noteworthy,” because no Congressional committee that “has previously looked into Benghazi or Libya has uncovered these memos.”

Yet there was no explanation as to how these emails contained any new insights or information about the September 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound and CIA base in Benghazi, Libya that resulted in the murders of Ambassador Chris Stevens, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, and CIA contractors Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty.

Mr. Blumenthal himself noted “my testimony has shed no light on the events of Benghazi—nor could it—because I have no firsthand knowledge.”

While exact dollar amounts spent by federal agencies are unavailable, details released about other declassification processes shed light on these costs. In March 2014 the Defense Department informed Democratic Rep. Adam Smith, they had spent “millions of dollars” and “thousands of man-hours to responding to numerous and often repetitive Congressional requests regarding Benghazi.” Currently the State Department has 12 full-time staff members paid between $63,700 and $150,000 reviewing Hillary Clinton’s emails “a process that could cost more than $1 million” according to the National Journal. The total cost for these document queries could run well into the eight figures. For example, the IRS spent $14 million responding to Congressional investigations into accusations it politicized the tax-exemption application process.

In May of 2014 it was reported that Republicans worried that if they created a Benghazi Select Committee it would fail to produce tangible results. “Investigate and find nothing new, and the committee looks like a bunch of tin-hatted obsessives,” wrote Eli Lake. One House member told Lake, “This could be a rabbit hole.”

It has turned out to be an extremely deep one.

Its true purpose was obvious way before McCarthy blurted it out.

Both Republicans AND Democrats who buy into the narrative do it for obvious reasons, and they have nothing to do with an incident in North Africa.

From his past:

'One of Karl's early media appearance was on C-Span2 on July 15, 1993 where he criticized Congress's deficit reduction plan as "myth", comparing Clinton's tax raise to King George's revenue on American Colonists as "heavy burden at the feet of the unrepresented." '

He's been a Reagan supply-sider his whole career. Clinton had balanced the budget and these Repukes become unhinged. He seemed so sensitive and offended by the minor catcalls but then again he's just providing cover for the latest RW smear campaign. ABC news is where Chris Wallace came from. Trained at ABC, promoted to Fux News.
