GOP congresswoman gets surprise on Facebook after asking constituents for Obamacare horror stories

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers posted an image on her official Facebook page, slamming the Affordable Care Act on the fifth anniversary of President Obama signing it into law. She asked constituents to share their Obamacare nightmare stories and well, the response probably wasn't what she expected. Below are a small sample of the comments constituents left on her page:


My story is that I once knew 7 people who couldn't get health insurance. Now they all have it, thanks to the ACA and President Obama, and their plans are as good as the one my employer provides--and they pay less for them. Now, that's not the kind of story you want to hear. You want to hear made-up horror stories. I don't know anyone with one of those stories.

Virtually every single comment received mentions single payer, medicare for all. They aren't hearing that from Hillary.

4. Obamacare

Social Security is already the largest single payer in the world. Although one can certainly argue that SS has been tremendously effective, I don't see how you can make the argument that we can easily transition to SS covering 100% of Americans. Europe, after all, does not have a single single payer, but rather a single payer in each of the member nations. I like Obamacare, because it merely sets a threshold for member States. Any State can go single payer if it wishes, and I think some are considering just that.

Considering that Dems were just BARELY able to pass Obamacare after employing aggressive and wiley legislative maneuvers, I don't see how anyone can easily pass single payer. Remember, most red states have still not expanded Medicaid, despite the intention of the law.

8. They have lived in their Foxiness bubble for so long, that they believe it to be the truth.

Their handlers pick "Citizens" to talk to so that get the proper feedback. Only when they post to something like Facebook do they really poll their voter base. Now the question is "Do the congress critters read the Facebook posts" or does a handler give them the responses that only jive with the congress critters viewpoint.

I know that most good aides never give their bosses opposing viewpoints. They want to keep their job.

9. 4000+ positive ACA responses from Ted Cruz posting

A year or two ago, Sen Ted Cruz did the same type of Facebook posting, asking his constituents for their Obamacare horror stories. I monitored the site for several weeks, copying more than 4,000 stories sent in, the vast majority were positive, grateful, in many cases life-saving!

Sent the WORD file with the stories to the Obama healthcare folks - it was so amazing to see how many people's lives had been changed by finally having insurance.

We all know what you see in the media rarely reflects what is actually happening in real life. How sad that we as a nation cannot rejoice and support medical care for not previously covered. Peace. Hannah

Repugs take those posts down when they backfire, then keep telling the same stories as if nothing had happened. They need to learn the fact-based community is recording all their failures.
