I wasn't even Tweeting to him - it was one of those conversations where several people are included in the Tweet, including Trump and Bernie Sanders.
I check my notifications and he's tweeted directly to me (the first name on the list is the person to whom you are directly replying for those who don't know). I was debunking that Wall Street Journal article about Sanders' $18 trillion price tag and he answered me this:
I've responded:
(Please remember, Twitter is only 140 characters minus all the people "at"ed, so my answer is very simplistic).
So, now my son, who's English teacher hates Trump and loves Sanders, has a funny story to tell her in the morning.

(10,345 posts)Too many of the right wing and establishment will try and interchange "Socialism" with "Democratic Socialism" as much as possible.
They are not the same. Well done!

(36,814 posts)The US has a mixed economy, just like all those "socialist" European countries. It's just a question of what makes sense to socialize and there's no sense in trying to debate dipshits like Trump and most hard core wing nuts because they believe privatizing is always better than socializing, even though the result of converting the latter to the former inevitably results in higher costs for less service.

(2,212 posts)I'd probably amend that to:
"Fascism is a further development or 'higher stage' of capitalism. So what?"
... since higher stage is in quotes and Il Duce certainly thought it was an improvement. A bit more pithy that way.
I am so ineffably tired of simpletons equating or linking socialism to communism. Stupid, simplistic thinking. Akin to this one: Table salt combines elements that are parts of deadly substances--sodium cyanide and chlorine gas. Again: So what? Uggh!

You've got him back on his heels, now close in for the kill!

(35,619 posts)...what both "socialism" and "communism" mean in Marxist thought.
To Marxists, "socialism" is a society in which the government owns everything big, as was the case in the USSR, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Communism is an ideal society with, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."
