LINCOLN — A re-election bid might be three years away, but Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts is already raising money for an apparent run in 2018.

On Tuesday, the governor, who has served nine months in office, will hold a $500-a-person fundraiser at the Washington, D.C., office of the Husch Blackwell law firm.

Ricketts will be in Washington on Tuesday to meet with members of Nebraska’s congressional delegation. Then he will head to what a campaign aide described as a “short, quick fundraiser while he’s there.”

Jessica Flanagain, who works as the governor’s privately paid adviser, said that it’s not unusual for elected officials to be raising funds so soon after being elected.
