The Carr brothers are before SCOTUS today..

http://www.kansas.com/news/special-reports/carr-brothers/article16896278.html

The question is if they will remain on death row or be commuted to life.

For those of us who remember ther crimes, it was as close to domestic terrorism as any story I remember. Their acts were monstrous and left the entire community feeling violated.

Their death would be the end of them in the memories of a lot of people. This appeal is the final round..either their capital convictions will be upheld or they will be left to die naturally at El Dorado correctional facility...either way it is time they be out of the public eye.

At one point I considered myself an opponent of capital punishment.

But I'm a bit disappointed that the death penalty for these two was taken off the table by the court.

In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing capital punishment applied to a wider range of crimes, such as starting a war that killed thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis. Or maybe knowingly bombing a medical facility operated by an international humanitarian foundation.
