Obamacare...

Serious question...

Is it even possible to stop the ACA?

So many on the Right seem to be pushing this promise. I thought it was the law of the land.

1. It was passed by Congress and can be undone by a Congress, at the moment they don't have the votes

to override a Presidential veto however.

2. "I thought it was the law of the land."

It is.

So was slavery
prohibition
laws against sodomy
laws against mixed race marriages
the assault weapon ban
and others.

Laws can be changed or repealed. Usually it is for the good, but not always.

12. What is safe?

It's a matter of political probability.

4. I think it's BS

because they have to have a plan ready to go to replace it, and so far there isn't one. And they'd have to repeal it and it would take a majority which they won't get. Even some Republican states are signed onto it to get funding for Medicaid and Subsidies...

9. Are you sure about that?

It was "deemed" passed, and didn't get a single R vote.

11. It was passed with a 60-40 votes.

I don't see republicans coming up with 60 votes to repeal it, do you?

8. The onliest thing that could repeal the ACA

as it now stands is to go up to Single Payer.

A dream, but we keep hoping...

10. If we collectively managed to elect

a sufficiently bat-shit crazy Congress, anything is possible.

It does seem as if a lot of ordinary people originally opposed to it changed their minds once they got their own coverage, but there are probably still a lot out there who already have good health coverage through a job and who still don't get it.

And when you consider that almost every single person who votes for a Republican any more is simply voting against his own self-interest, it gets truly scary.
