I had such a bad week last week and the DU came through BIG for me anyway!

Dug, Our Page-A-Day Dog of the Week

Dug was abandoned at eight weeks old by his owners; they moved out of the apartment and left him behind. Homeward Bound in the Heartland (HBitH) took him in and he spent the next seven months in foster homes, and was adopted twice and returned. We were alerted to his needing a home in June 2010 by a friend who was a member of HBitH, and arrived at the home of the person who runs HBitH just as the last family was returning him. He was afraid and upset, but my husband and I took a chance on him and brought him home that day. The photo I've entered is Dug on his first evening at our house. It took six months of hard work, his growing up, and training classes, but Dug became a wonderful companion and friend. He only wants to sit with my husband or myself; he's hardly ever anywhere else. We adore him and think he's turned into the best dog anyone could ever have. He's fun and very funny...we can't imagine life without him now.
