Second Republican Congressman Admits Benghazi Committee Was ‘Designed To Go After’ Clinton

A second House Republican has now conceded that the overarching purpose of the House Select Committee on Benghazi has been to attack former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In September, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) argued that one of House Republicans’ successes has been using the Benghazi Committee to drive down Clinton’s poll numbers. Though McCarthy tried to walk back his controversial comments, Rep. Richard Hanna (R-NY) argued on Wednesday that the Majority Leader had it right to begin with.

“Sometimes the biggest sin you can commit in D.C. is to tell the truth,” Hanna said in an interview on Keeler in the Morning, a radio show in upstate New York. The third-term congressman paused for a moment, perhaps recognizing the importance of what he was about to say, before going on to agree with McCarthy’s original statement.

“This may not be politically correct, but I think that there was a big part of this investigation that was designed to go after people and an individual, Hillary Clinton,” Hanna said.

He explained further why he believes the Benghazi Committee’s purpose has been in part to attack Clinton. “After what Kevin McCarthy said, it’s difficult to accept at least a part of it was not,” Hanna said. “I think that’s the way Washington works. But you’d like to expect more from a committee that’s spent millions of dollars and tons of time.”

Of course that is what it was designed for. I am guessing the news part is that a Republican has told the truth. I will mark it on my calendar.

Millions spent on a partisan witch hunt designed to bring down the approval rating of a powerful and popular Democrat.

I hope an investigation results in criminal charges.

of this would have been apparent to Helen Keller/Ray Charles/Stevie Wonder. Tearing up money and flushing it down the loo would be a better use of it.

But I suppose it beats trying to responsibly govern the country.

Mr. Podliska's lawsuit grows in importance seemingly by the hour. I'm guessing his lawyer wouldn't have let him go this far without hard evidence against the Committee , phone tapes, e-mails, maybe eyewitnesses to corroborate.
Hope this stretches out right up to the election. I got that Chris Matthews tingling sensation...

Isn't it over 4M that the taxpayers paid to date? This is nothing if you consider time lost in wages paid for all these affluent people to nail her? How many people were involved? Times how many hours? Times the average hourly rate(which I'm sure is very high).

So last I heard Alan Grayson was going to prosecute and filed paperwork after McCarthy spilled the beans. I heard it takes up to 60 days to process. So who are we going to fine(cha ching), and possibly put in jail? The GOP IS GUILTY. No two ways about it!!!

I want my damn money back!!!!

Rules, laws, right and wrong, they don't give a hoot.

It's all about power, and if a few people have to be destroyed it is for the good
of their party, even if it is bad for the country.

U.S. Rep. Richard Hanna is only House Republican to vote against GOP abortion bill

http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2015/01/us_rep_richard_hanna_is_only_house_republican_to_vote_against_gop_abortion_bill.html

There's that.. but, it seems there was something else he broke from his party.. that I took notice of over the years since I left.

Ah, here it is..

Richard Hanna, GOP Congressman, Slams His Own Party

Freshman Congressman Richard Hanna (R-N.Y.) must have had something in his ears when President Ronald Reagan spoke about the 11th Commandment of American politics: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."

“I have to say that I’m frustrated by how much we -- I mean the Republican Party -- are willing to give deferential treatment to our extremes in this moment in history,” Hanna recently told The Syracuse Post-Standard editorial board, specifically taking Rep. Michelle Bachmann (R-Minn.) and other Republicans to task for their attack against Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's aide, Huma Abedin, over debunked links to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Comparing the political parties to sports teams, Hanna also told the Post-Standard that members of Congress were overly devoted to partisan victory and that his Republican colleagues were less hospitable than those on the other side of the aisle

Glad he decided this is one of those times.

Gotta love the new Republican honesty. They are no longer afraid to admit they are complete dipshits as it helps them identify with their constituency.
