(44,109 posts)I seriously doubt they will sit back and hand the White House to Donald Fucking Trump or Carly Job-Killer Fiorina.
Or the Senate and House to those Union-hating and Climate-denying Tea Bag Republicans.
Because this shit is real for them, it is not some kind of cute game where they will idiotically cut off their noses to spite their faces.
At any rate, I have no clue what Dems will or will not do in relation to TPP.

(441 posts)The passage of TPP will lead to further erosion of the Democratic base, especially in terms of voters dropping out and not voting. It doesn't matter if the Republicans support it if it passes under a Democratic president. It will be a double win for the Republicans: the corporations get what they want and the Democratic base further erodes.

(24,692 posts)I see one of those 5 winning the republican nomination, most likely one of the first 2. If it is one of those 2, he obviously can't use TPP against Democrats. If they nominate one of the other 3, their craziness on many other issues will overwhelm their appeal to voters on opposing TPP.
Most people rank trade agreements pretty far down on their list of priorities they look for in a candidate.
