Greg jinxed the Astros Monday http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/greg-abbott-astros-tweet_561c23dce4b028dd7ea4d1b2?utm_hp_ref=politics

Baseball fans, like those of most sports, are incredibly superstitious. They know that acknowledging a no-hitter or claiming a victory prematurely is a huge faux pas.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's (R) staffers apparently aren't big MLB fans.

On Monday, the governor's official Twitter account congratulated the Houston Astros on their victory over the Kansas City Royals in Game 4 of the ALDS, praising the Texas team for advancing to the American League Championship Series for the first time in franchise history.

But that's not what happened.

Abbott's tweet was posted -- and quickly deleted -- during the 7th inning, when the Astros were enjoying a four-run lead over the Royals. But Kansas City rallied in the top of 8th, scoring 5 runs and forcing a series-deciding Game 5 in Missouri.

I am not the only one upset at Greg Abbott's jinxing of the Astros http://juanitajean.com/damn-governor/

Baseball is a game that requires a certain amount of intellect to understand and enjoy. That right there leaves out any Governor of Texas currently in office.

Baseball is also a game filled with superstition and voodoo and all manner of jinxes. Just watch Joe Altuve at bat. It takes a full minute for him to go through his routine, rituals, and thumb kissing to walk to the plate before every pitch. I am sure that even he will admit that it hasn’t been working too well lately but to change the routine blessings to the baseball gods would mean the roof would fall in on the ballpark.

So, with this in mind, our dog dump ignorant Governor tweeted this in the seventh inning when the Astros were four runs ahead.

It ain’t over until it’s over, Governor.

And if one of our pitchers has a no-hitter going in the eighth inning, somebody tape that jerk’s mouth shut.

I knew it had to be Greg Abbott’s fault. I knew it.

If the governor had jinxed something important, like football, that might upset Texans.

And the Astros were just six outs away from clinching the series in Game 4. Six measly outs. They could have given up one run for every other out, and still won the game and the series. That sharp bouncer up the middle by Kendrys Morales, touched by Royal Magic, ticked off of first Sipp's glove, then near-hero Correa's glove and trickled into center field, scoring two runs and tying the game at six apiece in the top of the 8th.

Six outs away.

Darnie.
