Jeb Bush would make the sick pay

Last week, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush put forward a healthcare proposal as part of his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination.

The plan, which has many moving parts, is intended to replace President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. If you don’t expect to get sick, you might like it.

Instead of healthcare exchanges and mandated insurance, Bush’s plan would give tax credits to buy catastrophic coverage.

This means the government would pick up a substantial share of the cost of a plan that has a large deductible, with the insurance kicking in only after a person had paid close to $7,000 out of his or her own pocket, or $13,000 for a couple.

To those stupid asses, $7,000 is chump change. To somebody who doesn't always manage to get 40 hours of work a week in low wage jobs (which are now most of them, by the way) and who is trying to survive below the poverty line, even a $200 deductible is too much.

You'll never get that through to any "fiscal conservative" with more money than brains in either party.

The rich think that a $10k deductible policy is not a hardship for "average" Americans and keeping documentation of expenses until that deductible is reached on a cumulative basis while tax returns are due annually also presents issues.

proposing the most insane things to see what sticks to the wall this time around. so when 2020 campaign season comes around (basically it's not stop campaigning now anyway), they will have refined their insanity and have boiled it down to the least stupid things and will use them as their platform.
