I've had it DU. Nothing personal I have met many great people here I will cherish my whole life.

I still love DU though. It's given me refuge since 2003 when I joined. But the separation of economic justice and racial justice is wrong headed and a trap. I can no longer take the ruse. They are bound. Therefore, I'm morally and intellectual required to in my own mind to leave if for nothing else just because I'm tired and old. I will seek out doing the best I can for my fellow human beings. I also will do the best I can do for my children. The only things I have difficulty with are false and politically created contradictions. Much success to you and your progeny. A better world doesn't leave anything or anyone out.

I get tired of it too. It's like people know what we need for real change, but they're so stuck on doing what they've done before they just can't step off the wheel. They try to convince themselves that the third way will come through for us, even though history has told us it's just a slower decent.

A lot of this mess here is from trolls and paid operatives, so it's just smoke screen anyway. Put them on ignore. The PTB are scared shitless of Bernie, and they'll do what it takes to bring him down.

Bernie may not win the nomination -- though I think he will -- but I'm still writing his name in. If every supporter would do that, he'd take the White House.

A lot of good people are refusing jury duty, and when that happens, you have the worst of us deciding which posts stay, which ones remain, and so on. It's a lot like what's been happening in America for far too long. If you choose not to participate, understand that others will be making the rules for you. But, thank you for your commentary on my life. I quite enjoy mine. It only took a few seconds out of it to do this, to see if my memory was failing:

https://www.google.com/search?q=taking+a+break+mmonk+site%3Ademocraticunderground.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

I actually missed several, and you are right - there is one incorrect one in the post I put together.

You are also right that several seemed to be temporary. Perhaps we can have a forum where people can post their DU posting schedules for the month, so that everyone can keep track of these important announcements.

This is not a "flowchart":

https://www.google.com/search?q=taking+a+break+mmonk+site%3Ademocraticunderground.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

However, if your point is that we are not to keep track of these announced "breaks from DU", then why are they made?

Or are you suggesting that someone posts "I'll be away for a while" and nobody should give a shit? If so, then what is the point in posting them?

Okay, I see. Someone regularly announces that they are fed up and taking a break from DU, and it is rude for anyone else to notice that they do so. Still seems to come back to "so why post it, if it is rude for others to notice your posts?"

Clearly, mmonk wants the DU readership to be apprised of his comings and goings, so why the sad?

And, MANY of us here at DU believe we have to fight for both economic and social justice at the same time.

Fielding candidates that believe in both strongly shouldn't be as difficult as it is currently. The only reason it is currently is that financial interests heavily fund THEIR candidates in the primaries (candidates that don't believe in passing (or fighting for) policies that help address the ridiculous levels of economic and wealth inequality we face today).

Much peace of mind to you and yours.

I thought it had rather faded as an issue. I don't look at GDP much, it's true, but when I have, it hasn't seemed to be the main topic.

As people suggest, wouldn't a generous use of the 'ignore' feature cut out most of the people who do insist on a separation?

81. Yes, actually it has become quite an angry divisive issue in GDP.

There are one or two very old threads, still going, that are angry Sanders was called racist by someone. That's about it.

Damnit, don't let them win man...

Stay and fight, or just stay and practice the fine art of "letting it gooooo"

But other than that, leaving the DU is being silenced, and yours is a voice that should definitely not be silenced.

not as much now as when Bush was president and we needed a place to vent, or when Obama was elected twice and we needed a place to express our appreciation for him and his programs.

It's a bit nerve wracking now. There's too much justifying wrong and criticizing right, and we haven't changed things much.

There are folks here whom I love without ever having met them.

I sort of need them, especially when a tragic story comes on the TV and I need to express an opinion.

Come back when you want to express something that is driving you nuts. I may be here or not, as I feel many days like you do now.

I read the labor posts daily, and latest breaking news. Science and good reads are excellent and the cartoons are terrific. For fun, laughs and downright common sense, the Atheist and Agnostic group is my favorite.

I dislike the rancor over the primaries and think it's unnecessarily rude and nasty. I refuse to alert, it's just not my thing, but really, people, if I wanted to be mad all the time I'd be a Republican.

…..justice isn't seen as the beginnings of the reparations that were never made? Social justice and economic justice are inseparable.

btw you're right on about the wrong-headedness of separating economic and social justice, the blindness of those who can't see the connection is exasperating.

Take care and all the best to you.

But the people who are posting that economic justice is not important are pushing an agenda, and not very well.

Justice comes as a whole, or not at all.

...no matter where you are, please know you have a friend in me. For years you've stood up to the fascists and warmongers and banksters, even knowing NSA and who knows what-all are taking down every name and number. That alone makes you stand out from the know-nothings and nitpickers who hope the gangsters will remember who was with them when the round up comes. What else distinguishes you is that you have always been kind on DU, even respecting those with whom you disagree. It is my honor to call you Friend.
