Police say the state’s gun laws have tied their hands despite complaints.

A 25-year-old white man got into an altercation with the black owner of a barbershop on Thursday who objected to him stalking predominantly black neighborhoods carrying a rifle slung across his back, reports Cleveland.com.

Saying he has a right under Ohio’s open carry laws to parade about town carrying his gun, Daniel Kovacevic, 25, has been stopped by police multiple times — including near the University of Akron — but police say the state’s gun laws have tied their hands despite citizen complaints.

perhaps demonstrates the strength of an American cultural myth. Everybody knows about the wild west of the 19th up to mid 20th - at least - century America and how cowboys wore pistols on their hips and gentlemen had theirs tuck away somewhere and as the film industry glorifies, shootings could take place anytime anywhere... it was presented as normal and often solved a perceived problem sans negotiation attempts.

In some social groups, the idea of keeping that mythic time and place alive yet applied to the 21st century world is their mission in life. Complete with the disfranchisement of all but white landholders in all ways, equality was not a forward concept and as is now, little anticipation of justice of any kind. This is what our political opposition is fighting for.

It would be nice if future generations could look back and call this time and our most immediate future, and proclaim a new awakening in humanity that benefited all life on the planet.
