Winter finally arrived with the New Year

A high of only 52 here in North Florida which is normal for us in January.

Earlier this week we were in the mid 70's and the mosquitoes were very active with all the rainfall.

It's about time it cooled off some.

50's as far as the eye can see. Normally or what used to be normally we'd be having some seriously cold weather this time of the year. Snow, ice and all things winter

And we had quite a few winters without snow which I hated. Have a great new year!

...and even though it's a bit arid in the plains region, I don't ever remember a winter without snow. I still have family there in a different part of the state, they sometimes don't see snow until mid December nowadays. And winter weather is definitely starting later these days also.

You, too, have a great new year!

On Christmas Day I wore shorts and we had a hot dog cookout outside for our Christmas dinner. Everybody was searching for shade it was so hot. I felt sticky the entire time I was downstate and was so glad to get back to Tallahassee where even before the front came through it was slightly drier even if not much cooler!

in the northern Rockies along the Montana/Idaho border at about 7,000ft elev. It was all of +8F for the high today and should be about the same -20somethingF tonight. It's usually coldest between 6 and 9am. It's +2F right now, went outside for a minute to get some wood, it wasn't bad since there's no wind.

Got some decent snow showers giving everything a nice blustery show for the new year. I missed this kind of weather, I just don't like 50s or 60s in December.

because of the lack of snow.

I suppose the winter break for students of all ages puts demands on sporting clothes and gear...when the break is over I guess the demand for that stuff falls off sharply.
