His son is named after the son of Mosiah from the Book of Alma in the Book of Mormon.

Many of the names used by Joseph Smith when he penned the Book of Mormon have their basis in Biblical place or person names.

Mesquite-Bunkerville Nevada area. And they have extended family in several near by Cities. Very common of the Mormon Patriarchs to name his children after their Book of Mormon Characters.
