How else could explain a bunch of weekend warrior ammosexuals taking over a bird sanctuary in the middle of an Oregon winter without bringing enough snacks or warm socks.

Hell at least if I was that stupid, my militia would have at least taken over a road rest somewhere along I95 in Florida - there it would have been warm and plenty of vending machines filled with snacks!

I've even seen the occasional jackrabbit in the area, sort of a rarity nowadays. As an Oregonian who lives a couple hours west of Burns, I highly resent my taxes being used to provide utilities to those idiots, so hope the power cutting is a done deed. By their very presence, they are fouling one of the most spectacular places in SE Oregon. Anyone familiar with the history of that area doubtless know the story of Pete French and what happened to him. Bundy and Crowd might do well to watch their backs. Not advocating violence, of course, just sayin'...

This bunch has no support. I think they figured that all the groups would rally around. Hasn't happened.

This bird refuge has been in existence since 1908 and it's important income producer for this really isolated area. Birders from all over come in here and they need places to stay and places to eat and buy supplies.

The local people don't want these guys bringing a whole bunch of trouble in here. They are afraid to even send their kids to school.

Authorities plan to cut off power to militia at occupied Oregon refuge

Federal authorities are planning to cut off the power of the wildlife refuge in Oregon that has been taken over by militia , exposing the armed occupiers to sub-zero temperatures in an effort to flush them out.

snip

“After they shut off the power, they’ll kill the phone service,” the government official added. “Then they’ll block all the roads so that all those guys have a long, lonely winter to think about what they’ve done.”

What I should have said was this...

I doubt that President Obama has much direct influence on this, and I'd doubt he's directly involved other than the occasional briefing. There are many more serious issues that he needs to be directly involved in. The FBI has leadership and subordinates that will be able to make the decisions, and take the necessary actions to end the situation.

That's all I was getting at. Not a critique, just a statement.

My point exactly.

But it isn't a message "they will be making".... it's been made already..... years ago.

That would include the cost of police presence out there. And any damage to the property.

....but at the end of the day use the laws to put these people away. People in this country need to know , OK have your guns but if you go around breaking the laws with your guns wagging at your side, your actions will have consequences!

I don't think they want to get these anti government guys stirred up. I think the article I just read said there are about 250 of these groups out there and even if they are small it's still a lot of guys just waiting to start trouble.

We have enough trouble going on right now without these yayhoos all going off the deep end.

That is the problem in this country. The macho gun slingers waltz around the village because they know the authorities are afraid to 'stir it up'. Yet some people in the country are gunned down for having their hands in their pockets. We can't have it both ways. We need to face these issues and decide how this country is going to look in the near future. I for one do not wish to live in the Wild West!

The groups are throughout the U.S. And when you take the tally and include the millions of guns we have on the street it is anything but a small issue.

It's something to do. Get all dressed up and sit around and talk big with the guys. Play soldier out in the woods.

If they actually set off to do one thing dangerous their wives would kill them.

Remember this the same bunch who moved all the women up to the front so they would bever first to go. That's how tough they early are.

Out here in the west, it's a long drive to get from point A to point B. Hell I have a 100 mile drive just to get to a big box store of any kind. And the weather, been a few storms rolling through...

And getting any kind of significant number of personnel to a place that remote also takes time, especially if there's no airport nearby that can accommodate large aircraft.

And I suspect that letting these idiots get settled in and feeling comfortable and wary since they weren't getting the immediate war they wanted might be an advantage.

it goes to show that not many wiminfolkes came along... probably staying home t cash the welfare and SSI checks. They should be banned from collecting anything from the government from SSI to military pensions (if any of the actually served and can collect) and SNAP... any kind of subsidy. And any wiminfolkes who did go there are probably ready to rip their menfolkes a new one right about now.

Fun's over.

Looking at their recruitment video, those kkklowns looked cold and scared.

I wonder if any had the wherewithal to have a plowblade on the front of their monster trucks. That road probably won't be plowed until they come out which will make it hard for them to receive supplies.

No warm socks and some deep snow followed by bitter cold... yeah, that will be entertaining to watch. With one road to the place, it's gonna be easy to scoop 'em up as they try to get those big monster trucks out of there.

And put a nice little ring around their rosie.

Then, what I'd do is have a steak fry for all the law enforcement people and media who are outside the perimeter. They need to make sure they set up the BBQ so that the smell of the meat wafts towards those putzes in the building.

cook cinnamon rolls! Then, a little later, they need to fry up some bacon and eggs and sausage for the breakfast crew!!

What's for lunch? Oooooh, how 'bout RIBS? Mmmm, mmm, that's good eatin'!!!

Late night snack? Popcorn.....mmmm, rich, buttery popcorn--that's the ticket!

They can run through all the recipes in a tailgating cook book, and have a big old party out there while they wait!
